Registration with Magic Links
Magic Links make onboarding faster and easier by giving users a quick and convenient way to get to the HYPR Device Manager to register their smartphone, security key, or other authenticator. Administrators generate Magic Links for a specific users in the HYPR Control Center then send the link to the user, typically via email. The user can then click on the link or paste it into a browser to enroll their device.
To generate a Magic Link from the HYPR Control Center:
- Use the drop-down menu in the left navigation panel to select the app for which you want to create the Magic link.
- Click Magic Links under the Advanced Config menu to display the Magic Links page:
- Set the Create New Magic Link parameters as follows:
|Username||Enter the name of the user for whom you want to generate the Magic Link.|
Note: If you’re using HYPR with Okta, Ping Identity, ForgeRock, or another SSO provider, make sure the user already exists in that system.
|Token Validity Time In Seconds||By default, Magic Links expire 24 hours (86400 seconds) after creation. To change the validity period, enter your preferred duration in seconds. For example, use 600 if you want the link to expire after 10 minutes.|
|Domain Prefix||The specific domain for which you want to create the Magic Link. The Domain Prefix is configurable in case your public-facing domain is different from your internal domain. For example, if your Control Center instance is behind a firewall or DNS, you can enter the specific URL in this field.|
- Once you’ve entered your settings, click the Create Magic Link button to generate the links.
Hovering over the links will allow you to copy the text to the clipboard. You can then send them to the user via email or another communication channel.
Note that once you close the pop-up window, you won’t be able to view the links again. However, you can always regenerate them if necessary.
Two different versions of Magic Link are created: Web Link and Dynamic Link.
Web Links are designed to be opened in a computer browser and will take users to the HYPR Device Manager where they can begin the device registration process by scanning a QR Code.
Dynamic Links are intended to be opened on a mobile device where they will initiate the registration process directly in the HYPR Mobile App. Dynamic Links also work as a normal Web Link if opened in a computer browser.

If the HYPR Mobile App is installed on the device, the registration process kicks off automatically with no need to scan an external QR code.
If the HYPR Mobile App isn’t installed on the device, the user is taken to the relevant download location (Google Play Store or Apple App Store) and prompted to install.
Note: Once the App is installed, the user will need to open the Dynamic Link again to perform the registration.
